About MAV

MAV is a trading workspace built by traders who got sick of the alternatives. We combine a professional trade journal, an AI coach that actually reads your journal, a live news feed with sentiment labels, a chart workspace with bar-by-bar replay backtesting, and a customizable dashboard — all in one dark, fast interface.

This page is for traders who want to know who's behind the tool before they pay for it. We think that's fair.

What MAV is

MAV stands for Market Mavericks — the brand. The MAV is also the space where you grow as a trader. We chose the name because the MAV (Mars Ascent Vehicle in The Martian) is the thing that gets the astronaut home. We want MAV to be the thing that gets you home: out of stalled progress, away from generic journals, and into a place where every session ends with you slightly better than you started.

MAV is software for journaling, analytics, education, and market intelligence. MAV is **not** a broker, fund, investment adviser, signal service, or financial planner. We do not place trades on your behalf. We do not guarantee outcomes. Trading involves substantial risk of loss.

Who built it

MAV is built by a small team of active traders. We use the tool ourselves every day. When something feels stale, slow, or lifeless, we fix it before shipping.

Founders and contributors:

  • **Cameron Colombe** — Co-founder. Built the foundation of MAV, the dashboard, the AI coach integration, and the chart workspace. Active trader, videographer by trade.
  • **Luke** — Co-founder. Day trader. Drives product direction from the trader-user perspective and shapes the journaling and analytics features.
  • **Diego (CDX)** — Founding community partner. Runs the CDX trading community and helped MAV find its first users. CDX members get an exclusive discount on MAV (see [Pricing](/pricing)).

We are a small operation. We do not have a marketing department, an outsourced engineering team, or a customer-success army. When you reach out, you reach the founders.

Why we built it

We tried the alternatives. Trade journals that were spreadsheets with a logo. Charting tools that knew nothing about your trades. AI assistants that gave generic advice trained on the internet, not on what you actually did last week.

We wanted one workspace that:

  • Read **your** trades and gave **you** feedback — not pattern-matching from random Reddit threads.
  • Made live market context (news, sentiment, sessions, contracts) one tab away, not a separate subscription.
  • Felt like an extension of how we actually think, with widgets we could rearrange and a dashboard that fits how we trade — not how a designer thought a generic trader trades.
  • Was honest about what it does and does not do. MAV is a craft-improvement tool. It is not a get-rich-quick service.

So we built it.

What MAV is not

We want to be straight with you about this part:

  • MAV is **not** financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Every output — including AI Coach responses, sentiment labels, risk calculations, and backtesting results — is for educational and informational purposes only.
  • MAV is **not** a way to skip the work. Reading the dashboard does not replace developing your own edge, managing your own risk, or making your own decisions.
  • MAV is **not** a guarantee of profit. Past performance, journaled history, backtests, and AI analysis do not guarantee future results.
  • MAV is **not** a substitute for a licensed professional. If you need investment advice, tax planning, or legal counsel, consult a qualified person.

Where we're going

We ship continuously and openly. Open beta means features evolve, occasional bugs surface, and we lean on our early users to tell us what is or isn't working. We track every issue and prioritize what matters most to active traders.
